New Jersey's Own Old Time String Band

 
"This is Sawmill Run's first album. We gather Old Time tunes from everywhere we travel, and every time we play them we remember the folks we got them from and the places we've been. "

Interview with Paul Kirk Jr

Old Time Musician, Historian and Teacher

Paul  Kirk, Jr., began playing fiddle at age nine, and by age seventeen had  taught himself string bass, cello, keyboard, and viola. He attended      Cleveland State University where he studied viola, music theory and      composition, music education, music history, and musicology. He currently  plays fiddle in Down the Road Old-Time String Band, which he founded in      2015, teaches fiddle, leads an old-time music program at The Music      Settlement in Cleveland, Ohio, and gives presentations and lectures about      antiques and collectibles. Since 2018, he has been documenting rare and  obscure tunes and underrepresented source fiddlers through his Old-Time Tune of the Week series on YouTube

Cigar Box Maker & New Orleans Cigar Box Video Finalist

 Steve is an Old Time musician and creative maker of cigar box musical instruments. He attends numerous Old Time gatherings to show off and allow musicians to play his instruments We first met in Tennessee at the Breaking Up Winter Old Time Gathering, and also hung out at the Clifftop Old Time Gathering. He recently  made the top ten and took second place in the video playoffs  of the New Orleans Cigar Box Guitar Festival.  where he played with Thomas Maupin and Daniel Rothwell, Collette Chris Rainwater, Jacob Fennell, Hillary Klug, Evan Winsor, and Casey Meikle!
